NWAAS, DOHS OR NOTABLES
The Nwaas, as their name suggests, are the spiritual institution of the village.
Their main role is to pour ancestral libations in the palace, following the way the institution and tradition of the village function.
They are those who were beside the Fon and were taught the traditional values of the land, that's the secret group of the village.
They're the ones to be consulted concerning some traditional rites during the Lela dance and other village traditional activities.
They are also the ones in charge of the official launching of the death ceremony of a notable in the village. At the same time, they are the kingmakers. In the event of the Fon's absence, they're the ones to go find the Fon and present him to the public after carrying out the necessary traditional rites.
It should be noted that though they are the kingmakers, they are not above the king or able to give orders to the Fon.
They are also the ones to organize and hold the successor of another departed notable or a title man in the village. They're called Doh because at the beginning of time and the creation of the village, they were there. So, all of them are successors of their fathers, Dohs who took part in the creation and making up of the village. They're principally the village oracle.
